Capturing the color of crystals

Well, I can't. It evades me and my camera!
I need some tips and tricks to help me photograph my beautiful crystal jewel items. It's a shame, they are all so pretty in 'real' life. Any tips from the pro's out there on how to better photograph crystals or reflective items (don't worry, I already know not to use flash ;)

  2. i do know that the sparkly facets you see in jewelry store ads and catalogues are often digital illustrations superimposed onto the photo.
but that doesn't help you. sorry! ;)

  4. Very lovely! I have the same problem with reflective surfaces. I have not tried this yet, but my dad is a photographer and said to hold up a piece of white paper, just out of the shot, move it around until you get the light reflecting back into the crystal.

Hope that was of some help!!
